Iam Lanka Sudhir working for a software firm in bangalore.
Iam a vaidiki velnaadu brahmin and gone thru these horoscopes b4 marriage. neither me nor my wife found it to be funny or made fun of elders as this is quite normal in a brahmin family to see all these things. Iam frm a family which is orthodox to core and all our family members have the virtues to respect elders and won't criticize them publicly in websites.

Hi Usha, my 2nd anonymous comment. Forgive me for my laziness to register . My name is Rajagopal Dhulipala(VV Brahmin by the way :-) and I am the same one who wished you were single and hope you didn't get offended). I feel your blog was not taken in the right spirit by some people. Although I care least about these jatakalu(sorry if I am hurting other readers),I also come from a very orthodox family.But surprisingly the concept of horoscope was not there in my parent's generation. It was just elders deciding their fate and they are married happily for the past 30 years with children like me :-) And I have seen divorces happening in the marriages that happended in one of the best Muhurtams and with stringent horoscope checks. This is just my impression from the things I have seen in life.
What I appreciate in your blog is the creativity and choice of topic. I really enjoyed the blog a lot. Keep posting more blogs.good luck

I am not evid reader of Telugu novels/blogs but I see that the flow in your writings is good..esp the level of detailing..
Regarding horoscopes n stuff..i think most of our generation dont believe in them but continue the tradition may be for not hurting the parents or to clear doubt lingers in the mind.
Most of such traditions/customs are deep rooted in the society and it may take ages to come out of them.
So folks, my view is that if you like them follow or else ignore them..but dont make debate out of them..it leads us to nowhere.
